Integrating MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) design and application scientific capabilities both inside and outside the university, combining existing processes and analytical equipment of the center, strengthening industry-academia collaboration, and enhancing the research, development, and services of microdevice design and application technologies.
The main tasks promoted by the center are as follows:
(1) Planning and promoting industry-academia collaboration and related research projects – through the implementation of research projects, provide research results for industry use to facilitate industry-academia cooperation and exchange.
(2) Training R&D talents in MEMS-related fields – the main initiatives include establishing MEMS-related specialized technology courses, planning and setting up specialized laboratories, creating program websites, and organizing relevant seminars to disseminate teaching outcomes.
(3) Resource integration and sharing – integrate equipment and teaching materials in a shared laboratory for interested personnel within the university to use for research and development.
(4) Promoting mechatronics-integrated creative engineering education – integrating existing creative teaching courses and equipment, and extending them into the technical field of MEMS systems.
(5) Promoting collaboration with the Central Taiwan Science Park, local medical institutions, and industry-academia nationwide – actively connect relevant domestic and international organizations for exchange and cooperation, enhancing the technical capabilities and development of MEMS research in the Central Taiwan Science Park.
With the increasing application of mechatronics and photonics integration, it has become a critical technology in smart machinery, biomedical applications, and the electrical industry. The center continuously collaborates with industries in central Taiwan, including HIWIN Technologies Corp., Chunbao Industrial Co., Ltd., National Taiwan University Hospital Yunlin Branch, China Medical University in Taichung, and renowned international universities (Indian Institute of Science, Russian Academy of Sciences), assisting in developing smart monitoring devices, high-value mechanical components and machines, home care, and chronic disease monitoring aids. Recently, the center's professors have received the Outstanding Engineering Professor Award from the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, the Outstanding Engineering Professor Award from the Chinese Engineers Association, multiple Best Paper Awards at international conferences, and numerous World Invention and Product Awards. In addition to winning the National Industry-Academia Master Award and the National Innovation Award, the center has pursued further international collaborations, implementing local R&D while gaining international recognition.
